Hierophant Meadery
One thing we loved about this island is that small farm stands, meaderies, flower farms, and coffee shops just seem to appear out of nowhere. Even better, is they are truly family owned and operated, sometimes on the same property the owner lives on. Hierophant was one of these businesses, Right off the main road a sign greets you and your welcomed into the cutest tasting room. You have the option to sit inside or out in their garden. We opted for the garden on this sunny day.
Taproom at Bayview Corner
I’m not sure if my standards for chicken sandwiches are too low, but this was hands down the best chicken sandwich I have ever had in my life. I’m still talking about this thing weeks later. My husband is over my nonsense with this meal. But the breading was actually crunchy! The chicken itself, tender and juicy. The tater tots must have been air fried because they also had the most satisfying crunch. If you are a crunchy texture lover this is your dream meal.
This dinner was so fun because we came here on a whim and somehow ended up winning a raffle!

Breakfast to the cabin at Captain Whidbey
A perk of booking one of the cabins here is the breakfast delivered to your room the next morning. We also had a private patio area and were able to sit and watch the sun come up.
Jupiter Coffee
Gav had a hankering for another espresso, so we stopped here on a whim, and it was packed! They carry local baked goods and they share a parking lot with Mutiny Bay Blues Farmstand if you’re looking to support local and also love blueberries this place is a must go!

Mutiny Bay Blues Farmstand
Technically not a restaurant but we did stop in for some blueberries. We missed the picking season so all the remaining harvest was frozen, but we did snag some freeze dried ones that became our snack of choice while in the car.

Orchard Kitchen
A lifted, farm to table, communal dining experience. There are multiple courses and reservations are recommended. Their kitchen is in full bloom in the warmer months due to using what their garden produces. The menu changes weekly because the garden changes weekly.
This working kitchen feels lived in and intimate, like walking into a close family member’s home for dinner. You somehow know your way around while the sound of clinking dishes creates the background ambiance of a space well loved. Smiles are plenty, familiar comfy aromas fill the room, and a calm happiness falls over the dinner guests.

Dad’s Diner
A quick pit stop while on our way to the Orcas Island ferry. Don’t judge me but I was desperate for some ruffage hence the salad. However I did love their take on avocado toast. It was surprisingly crunchy on some homemade sourdough bread and really well seasoned. The inside of the restaurant was full on knick knacks and fun vintage things. A cool stop in the funkytown downtown of Anacortes.

Flower House Cafe
Possibly my favorite breakfast stop of the trip! Gav got a breakfast burrito and I a breakfast sandwich. What was surprising was the pesto on my sandwich. The flavor profiles in the pesto plus the eggs all on top of a croissant all made for a savory sandwich which I wasn’t expecting at 8 am! Plus the coffee was delicious on this foggy morning. There is a reason this place was packed right at 8! I think the best part is you can walk through the plant nursery after.
Spoiled Dog Winery
We didn’t grab anything to eat here but we did have a lovely tasting outside enjoying the quiet rustling of the leaves while basking in the sun. After a cloudy morning the sun was most welcome. Gav and I both enjoyed our tastings. He decided on the red and I the white.

Greenbank Pantry & Deli
This sandwich shop is so well loved that they sometimes have a four hour wait! Luckily for us we were here on the off season and managed to grab a few sandwich in less than 20 mins. Be warned they do have a phone number and in theory you can call it, but no promise someone will answer, especially in the peak of the lunch time rush.
As a proper italian woman through and through I opted for the Prosciutto Moz which came with a fat slice of mozzarella, roasted red peppers, then a mountain of prosciutto, and topped with arugula.
Osprey Fish Co.
We were on a hunt for some seafood that wasn’t mussels or oysters. Nestled into the town of Coupeville Osprey Fish Co. can be found if you just follow your nose. The promise of batter fried fish was our prize and it hit just the spot.

Goldies Pizza
It’s a pizza! It’s hard to displease me when it comes to pizza. This was also our late night meal right before bed in Coupville. But it hit the spot and makes for a great pick up and go meal to either eat by the water or take back to your hotel.
Little Red Hen Bakery
I honestly think these might be the best savory pastries I’ve ever had. I opted in for a ham and cheese croissant, and while very tasty, rookie mistake. If you’re a fan of a cream cheese lox bagel combo you must get the savory croissant. It’s exactly what it sounds like, flaky croissant base, with a hole filled with cream cheese, topped with lox, and sprinkled with everything but the bagel seasoning. My advice, get two because one will not be enough. My lovely husband was nice enough to trade with me because he prefered my choice as well.

Whidbey Island Bagel Factory
I’m not joking when I say this bagel brought me back to life. We had just finished Ebey’s landing. We were very hungry, sweaty, and fighting for our lives internally (most likely dehydration). This bagel healed all my ailments and then some. I was actually a new woman after this meal.
If your a fan of corned beef, I got a sandwich which came with an egg, cheese, and a mountain of corned beef.
Whidbey Coffee
A small local franchise that has a similar business model to Dutch bros and (RIP) Salad and Go. One thing to note, the highly caffeinated people of Washington do not play about their coffee. There are coffee stands everywhere! Throughout our trip we would stop, at all times of day, for a quick pick-me-up and they would be busy. 10/10 experience for those of you who simply run on the stuff, you would thrive here.

Captain Whidbey for Dinner
Since we were staying at the equivalent of an adult summer camp we had to also eat at the local spot. We (I) were also on a mission to try all the delicacies of this island, aka Penn Cove Shellfish. It came in a wonderful coconut curry sauce and this is how I learned I’m a big fan of the stuff! Gav choose the safe route and ordered a burger but it came with the best thin crunchy fries.
