One of the most surprising and delightful parts of our stay at Sé Boutique Hotel was how peaceful it felt, even though we were right in the heart of Funchal. The hotel was always bustling during the day with the comings and goings of staff and other guests. Yet, once it was quiet hours that noise seemed to melt away completely. The soundproofing and thoughtful design made it feel like a calm retreat tucked within the city’s rhythm. It was the perfect balance being surrounded by the vibrancy of Madeira’s capital while still enjoying a quiet, restful night’s sleep.
The hotel complements this setting beautifully. We started each morning downstairs with breakfast in a chic green communal space, then would wander our way down to the waterfront, through the botanical gardens, or neighboring towns. Some afternoons, the rooftop bar beckoned; other times, relaxing on the front patio or reading on a terrace with views over the city and sea was all the luxury we needed.
