Engagement Pics

Pictures have always held significance to me, it’s no wonder I became a photographer. From key memories to turning points in a life, images captured during those noteworthy time periods are specifically marked to me. When deciding on ideas for engagement pictures I knew I wanted a classy, romantic, artsy feel. Something our future children could look back on fondly and say ‘wow they have always loved each other.’

I have always loved a good moody black and white image with lots of contrast. Not to mention they never go out of style. With that being said I’ve had my eye on Jenna and her work for literal years. The way she conveys human emotion and rawness all through a lens has captured my love and attention for years. I NEEDED her to take these pictures!

I knew she had moved to Maine but continuously traveled for her work and clients. On a whim I messaged her to see when she would be back in AZ and by happen chance she would be here in a few weeks.

Then the planning began! Pinterest was obviously our best friend for this. I’ve attached my engagement photo ideas here for you if you like how our images compare.

We stuck to a classic black and white attire with Gavin mixing in a blue suite to make him look extra handsome. My dresses were from Windsor and Macy’s and my shoes were from Dillards. My gloves were actually my grandmothers.

Gav had my ring custom made from a jewler in California called, Happy Jewelers, that my family has used for years. My mom thoughtfully asked if he’d like to use the diamonds from my late grandmothers wedding ring since the ring was dated and was just sitting in a jewelry box. Needless to say it came out amazing, he had been listening to me yap about what I want and didnt want for months. Better yet, I get to have a little piece of my grandmother and her love story on my own finger into my new married life.

As a fashion girly I had a heck of a time picking dresses and I was on a time crunch. We had a week long trip in Chicago the week before our shoot so I was limited on having time to try dresses on . Thank god the mall didn’t fail me. However I also looked at a few of these dresses online for the occasion and I still might order one or two for the upcoming bridal shower and rehearsal dinner.

Overall Jenna captured everything beautifully and I’m elated with how everything turned out! My Pinterest board literally came to life. She guided us and made us feel so comfortable with our poses on while just letting us be natural and fun. If you want to book Jenna yourself I’ve linked her IG here!
